Organised in Paris on March 27th and 28th 2014, the 2nd international conference of the CIST (CIST2014) aimed to clear new and uncharted ground in this area, while reinforcing existing links between CIST scientific areas and involved disciplines.

18 sessions evolving around six themes

  • Local data, citizen data, social demand
  • Regional integration and territorial cohesion: a comparative perspective
  • Critical approaches to mobility, territoriality, territorialization
  • Territorial science: the pioneer fronts of interdisciplinarity
  • Images of territories. Media and representations
  • Territorial Information Systems to address new scientific problems or social practices

2 plenary sessions

  • Agricultures mondiales, normes et territoires
  • Regards croisés sur les intégrations régionales dans le monde

The conference gathered together 160 participants, amongst whom 30 from foreign institutions. At the end of the 1st day of the conference, the GIS hold its General Meeting; the report (with complementary arguments reaching the CIST until mid-April 2014) can be found at the end of the general report of the conference (in French).

This document provides the main conclusions of the plenary session, as well as various elements –not exhaustive– coming out of the rich debates running from the parallel sessions.

Publications

Apart from these proceedings, including the communications presented during  parallel sessions, some are to be published in the "collection du CIST" at Karthala and in various journals (Revue du développement territorial RDT, Maghreb/Machrek, special issues of Mappemonde and L'Espace géographique).
